So, next time you shop, look for all the color you can, and create a rainbow on your plate! Some of the fruits and vegetables that provide you with nutrient-dense bioflavinoids include:

  • Strawberries

  • Garlic
  • Broccoli
  • Red and sweet peppers

A note about nutrients . . .

In order to obtain the greatest benefit from fruits and vegetables, it is best to consume them raw, or mildly cooked. The more processing that occurs, the more minerals and vitamins may be lost before you eat them.

You can easily get more fiber into your diet by eating more fruit, and less sugary snacks, and by trading potato chips for air-popped popcorn.

Stay Hydrated

Some studies show that hydrating can help minimize the symptoms of varicose and spider veins. Especially if you are adding fiber to your diet, or taking a fiber supplement, you will want to increase water intake in order to avoid any unpleasant symptoms.
