Celebrate The Red, The White, But Not The Blue
- Posted on: Jul 2 2013
If you’re in the mood for celebrating the 4th of July, The Vein Clinic is all in favor of waving the flag of independence.
But while we love the red and the white… let’s not celebrate the “blue”, which can indicate the blue, ropey, bulging, swollen, or painful varicose veins on your legs that can be symptoms of vein disease.
A few fast facts:
- Varicose veins affect approximately 20% of the adult American population, age 18 and older.
- For people 60 and older, 72% of females and 42% of males are likely to have medically significant vein disease, at risk for phlebitis, venous ulcers, immobility, bleeding, and venous dermatitis.
- 50% of females and 15% of all adult males will suffer from unsightly superficial veins.
- Meanwhile, 52% of all adult males and females have telangiectasias (spider veins).
So celebrate the 4th of July, then call The Vein Clinic on the 5th of July at 803-253-8667 to schedule a free screening and let Dr. Neal Reynolds determine if you have vein disease.
